Book Illustration for Northern Lights

This is a recently completed print based on the Philip Pulman book 'Northern Lights'. Its a 2 colour woodcut and pastel print with handlettering. Only an unpublished piece but nevertheless a piece of work I hugely enjoyed producing. I'm experimenting more with Chalk Pastels and finding they can be very versatile and contrast nicely with the faded effect of the woodcut texture. I believe Mr Pulman dabbles in illustrating his books too. Very inspirational!
